The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court paid silent tribute today to the young students who tragically lost their lives in the Air Force training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka.
At 9:30 AM on Tuesday, a seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed Siddique convened. The session began with a one-minute silence to honor the deceased and injured victims of the Milestone tragedy.
Afterwards, the Chief Justice announced that the Appellate Division would continue its regular judicial proceedings until noon, but no court work would take place after 1 PM in the Supreme Court. He also instructed all benches of the High Court Division to begin their sessions with similar acts of respect.
On behalf of the Chief Justice, Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan said that courts nationwide have been directed to observe a moment of silence standing at the start of their daily activities.
Additionally, a ban on all cultural programs for the next three days has been imposed as a mark of respect.
