The online application process for admission to Class XI (HSC) is expected to start at the end of this month, sources from the Dhaka Education Board said on Saturday.
An updated admission policy draft has been finalized and submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval.
Officials suggest that the new policy may change the migration system, revise admission timelines, and possibly include a special quota for family members of those injured or killed in the July 2024 mass uprising. The Ministry of Education, previously, announced that a reserved seat would be available per class for these categories in school admissions.
The 2025 SSC and equivalent exam results were published on July 10, revealing a 68.45% pass rate. A total of 1,303,426 students passed, and 139,032 students achieved a GPA of 5.
When contacted, Dhaka Board Examination Controller SM Kamal Uddin Haider said, “A draft policy has been prepared in consultation with all board-level college inspectors and submitted to the ministry. Once approved, the admission circular will be issued.”
When asked about the expected timeline, he said, “We’re hopeful the admission circular will be published by the end of this month.”
Missionary colleges will continue to hold independent admission tests.
Meanwhile, missionary-run colleges like Notre Dame College, Holy Cross College, St. Joseph, and St. Gregory’s will maintain their traditional system of admitting students through entrance examinations.
Fr. Hemonto Pius Rosario, Principal of Notre Dame College, confirmed the plan, “We will hold admission tests this year as usual. The court has also upheld our right to follow our own process.”
