A weeklong group art exhibition titled ‘Aesthete’ set to begin today at Alliance Française de Dhaka. The inaugural ceremony will be held at 6 pm at La Galerie of the cultural centre in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors every day from 3 pm to 9 pm, except Sundays, and continue until July 15.
Renowned artist and Professor Emeritus of Dhaka University Rafiqun Nabi will attend the opening event as the chief guest. Art connoisseur Raquib Mohammad Fakhrul and noted artist Ranjit Das will also grace the event as special guests.
Organised to highlight the works of promising Bangladeshi artists, the exhibition will feature nearly 35 artworks, including paintings and sculptures. A total of 29 emerging and independent artists are participating in this group exhibition.
Some of the featured artists include Abdullah Al Bashir, Abdus Sattar Toufiq, Al-Akhir Sarker, Anjum Sulaiman, Ashfaque Bappy, Bishwajit Goswami, Kazi Sahid, Monjur Rashid, Muntasir Moin, Nazia Ahmed, Sumon Wahed and Trivedi Gopal Chandra Gupu, among others.
The exhibited artworks cover a wide range of themes, such as nature, folk culture, social issues, personal emotions and contemporary life. Presented in abstract, semi-abstract and realistic styles, the collection offers visitors a chance to witness diverse artistic approaches in one space.
According to the organisers, ‘Aesthete’ is not just an exhibition but also a platform to inspire creative dialogue and interaction between artists, art lovers, and critics. The event aims to support new voices in the country’s contemporary art scene while giving the audience a space to reflect on modern ideas and visual expressions. The exhibition is open to all with free entry.
