Valuables of a garment factory were damaged in a fire which broke out in Jamgarah of Ashulia in Savar on Monday.
However, no casualty was reported.
The fire broke out at the Ayesha Garments factory around 12:15 pm, opposite to Fantasy Kingdom and spread soon.
On information, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts around 2:05 pm, said Station Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense (media cell) Talha Bin Jashim.
However, the extent of the damage caused by the fire could not be ascertained yet.
Waliullah Khan, operator of the factory, said the fire broke out on the second floor of the factory building where 4,100 workers were working for shipment.
The fire gutted valuables including clothes and machinery worth several crores, said a senior manager of the factory wishing anonymity.
However, the origin of the fire could not be known immediately.
