Renowned Lalon singer and cultural icon Farida Parveen has returned home after a lengthy battle with multiple health complications. On Tuesday night, she was discharged from Universal Medical College Hospital in Dhaka around 11:30pm, accompanied by her family members.

Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of the hospital, confirmed the news to BSS. He said the legendary folk singer is now out of danger and has made notable progress after intensive treatment. She had been under continuous medical care at the hospital, where she received regular dialysis and support for other serious health issues.

Farida Parveen had been admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on July 5 due to severe respiratory distress. She had been suffering from chronic kidney disease for a long time, requiring dialysis three times a week. Additionally, she was treated for pneumonia, blood infections, and diabetes—all of which made her condition more complicated.

A team of expert physicians supervised her treatment. Among them were Prof Dr Rana Mokarram Hossain, a specialist in nephrology, and Dr Mohammad Abdul Hannan, a critical care expert. To ensure the highest quality care, multiple medical boards were formed with doctors from both Universal Medical College Hospital and other leading institutions.

Thanks to their coordinated care and the determination of the patient, Farida Parveen gradually recovered. Her return home brings relief and joy to her fans and well-wishers across the country who had been anxiously praying for her recovery.

Known for her soulful renditions of Lalon songs, Farida Parveen holds a special place in Bangladesh’s music scene. Her return is a hopeful moment for the cultural community and a reminder of her resilience in the face of adversity.
