The Army officials have seized weapons and drugs from the house of Rifat Amin, a former member of parliament (MP) from the reserved women's seat, and arrested her son in Satkhira.
The arrested was identified as Safayet Sarowar Rumon, younger son of Rifat Amin.
A special team of the army, acting on a tip off, conducted a raid at the house in the city's Munjitpur area on Sunday afternoon.
They also seized a firearm, 300 pieces of Yaba pills and various drugs, including foreign liquor from his possession.
Confirming the matter, Satkhira Army Camp official Major Iftekhar Rahman said that preparations are underway to take legal action against Rumon in this connection.
It is learnt that former MP Rifat Amin is currently staying at her eldest son's house in the United States. Her younger son Rumon had been living alone in the house for a long time.
Locals alleged that Rumon was a drug addict and involved in various crimes in the area.
