Mosharraf Hossain, former housing and public works minister, walked out of jail on Thursday after securing bail in all 12 cases filed against him.
He was released at 5:35 pm on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical University Hospital, Keraniganj Jail Superintendent AKM Masum confirmed the matter.
Recently, his wife Ayesha Sultana submitted a written appeal to the chief adviser, seeking his release for advanced medical treatment.
According to the jail official, the senior Awami League leader had been admitted to the BMUH from the prison hospital on the night of 5 August after falling ill due to age-related complications.
He was freed after all bail documents were verified as per legal procedures, and the prison guard assigned to him was withdrawn.
Prison authorities said multiple cases were filed against Mosharraf in Dhaka and Chattogram.
The jail superintendent said Mosharraf had 12 cases against him and obtained bail in all of them.
The final bail order came in a case filed with Paltan Police Station, after which he was already on bail in the other cases.
Mosharraf Hossain, a seven-time elected lawmaker from Chattogram-1, served as minister of civil aviation and tourism as well as minister of housing and public works during his political career.
He was arrested on 27 October last year from the Bhatara Police Station area of Dhaka.
