Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 8.9 KG   of silver during a raid in Damurhuda, Chuadanga. The silver was seized during a raid at Isharar Mor in the upazila on Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, BGB Chuadanga-6 Battalion Assistant Director Md Haider Ali confirmed the news to media through a press release.

The release said that Chuadanga-6 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Hasan learned that smugglers would smuggle a large amount of silver through the area.

Ased on this information, BGB members led by Acting Quartermaster Assistant Director Md. Haider Ali took position at Isharar Mor, approximately 300 yards inside Bangladesh from Main Pillar No. 96 of the border. At around 5:30 am on Saturday, two suspects were riding a motorcycle towards the border through the area when a BGB patrol ordered them to stop.

Sensing the presence of the BGB, they abandoned the motorcycle and fled through the nearby jute field. Later, the BGB members seized the motorcycle abandoned by the smuggler and searched the motorcycle and seized 8 kg 900 grams of Indian silver hidden in a unique way inside the motorcycle.

Naib Subedar Md. Abdus Sattar filed a general diary with Damurhuda Police Station as a complainant in this matter.

In addition, the process of depositing the seized Indian silver in the Chuadanga Treasury Office is under process.
