The Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of Dhaka University (DU) organised the 9th ‘English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Day’ on Tuesday.
To mark the occasion, a cultural event, discussion session, and various programmes were organised at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University.
Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), Dhaka University, inaugurated the day-long programme as the chief guest.
Professor Dr Mohammad Absar Kamal, Acting Director of the Institute of Modern Languages, presided over the programme as the chief guest. Mr Stephen Forbes, Country Director of the British Council, and Professor Dr Taiabur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Dhaka University, attended as special guests.
Professor Dr Saima urged students to become capable citizens by combining knowledge and skills.
She expressed hope that the ESOL programme can play an effective role in helping students become proficient through various initiatives.
