DU JCD announces convenor committees for 18 halls

The Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has announced new convenor committees for 18 of the university's residential halls.

The committees were published through a press release on Friday morning.

According to the statement, a total of 593 students have been given positions across the hall committees.

JCD primarily placed regular students in the committees, with convenor and member secretary posts filled by students from the 2018-19 to the 2022-23 academic sessions.

The BNP's student wing also noted that this marks the first time in a long period that it has been able to form committees for the university's female's student halls.

The new committees, which replaced the previous ones, were approved by JCD Dhaka University President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon.

The largest convenor committees are for Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall with 61 members, Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall with 56 members, and Bijoy Ekattor Hall and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, both with 54 members.

The smallest committees were formed for the women's halls: Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall with 3 members, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall with 4 members, and Shamsun Nahar Hall with 5 members. Meanwhile, Ruqayyah Hall and Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall have been placed with 8 and 7 members, respectively.

Additionally, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall has a 51 members-strong committee, Kabi Jasimuddin Hall (43 members), Masterda Surja Sen Hall (47 members), Salimullah Muslim Hall (18 members), Sir A F Rahman Hall (39 members), Jagannath Hall (34 members), Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall (48 members), Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall (36 members), and lastly, Amar Ekushey Hall with a 25 members-strong committee.
