Bangladesh Army seized drugs in an operation from Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of army officials led by Ashuganj Army Camp Commander Major Md Imtiaz Mahmud Khan conducted a drive in Shariyatnagar area of the upazila and seized 22 pieces of ‘scope’ and cash of Tk 3500 from the spot.
Suspects fled the scene after sensing the presence of law enforcement. leaving their belongings behind.
The two absconding suspects have been identified as Md Anik Mia, 23 of Char Chartala village and Md Omar Sani, 28 of Shariyatnagar village; both are from Ashuganj police station under Brahmanbaria district.
Ashuganj Army Camp Commander Major Md Imtiaz Mahmud Khan confirmed the incident and said that the seized items have been handed over to Ashuganj police station.
Police stated that preparations are underway to file a case in connection with the incident.
