To mark the birthday of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, prayer gatherings (doa mahfils) and food distribution took place in different areas of Bogura. After Jumma prayers on Friday, special doa mahfils were held in many mosques across the district.
A central doa mahfil took place at Baitur Rahman Central Mosque in the town, attended by district BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha, Acting General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain, Vice-President Hamidul Haque Chowdhury Hiru, and other party leaders. Prayers were offered for Begum Khaleda Zia’s good health and long life, as well as for the well-being of the Zia family. Afterwards, food was distributed among orphans in a local madrasa by party leaders.
In addition to the district event, BNP and its affiliated organisations also arranged separate prayer gatherings across Bogura.
In Shibganj upazila, the local BNP organised a Qur'an recitation, doa, and milad mahfil at Borkotia Jame Mosque after Jumma prayers. Earlier in the morning, a full recitation of the Holy Qur’an and special prayers were held at Borkotia Orphanage.
The Shibganj doa mahfil was attended by Upazila BNP General Secretary Advocate Abdul Wahab, former General Secretary S.M. Tajul Islam, Municipal BNP President Bulbul Islam, General Secretary Abdul Karim, Senior Vice-President Mahbub Alam Manik, Organising Secretary Harunur Rashid Master, along with many union and ward-level leaders and over a thousand worshippers.
Prayers were offered for the recovery and long life of Begum Zia, for the souls of late President Ziaur Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko, and for the prosperity of the nation and long life of Acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Similar gatherings were held in Gabtali, Sariakandi, Sonatola, Sherpur, and Dupchanchia.
