The funeral of Asif Ahmed (22), a student from Bogura who went missing while bathing at Cox’s Bazar’s Himchari point, has been completed on Thursday. The first funeral prayer was held at 8:00 am at the Kazi Bari Mor Mosque in Bogura town, followed by a second prayer at 10:00 am at the Noshipur Balupara Madrasa ground, after which he was laid to rest.

Asif's body was recovered on Wednesday morning after it washed ashore near Samiti Para on the Cox’s Bazar coast. He was the son of Rafiqul Islam Rubel, a college teacher from Dakshin Naruli in Bogura town.

Asif was a first-year student (2023–24 session) of the Development Studies department at the University of Chittagong.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when Asif and two of his friends were swept away by strong currents while bathing at Himchari beach. One of them, KM Sadnan Rahman Sabab (21), also a University of Chittagong student, drowned and died. Another student from Bogura, Oritro (22), remains missing following the incident.
