Evercare Hospital Chattogram, the largest hospital in the port city, celebrated World Heart Day -2025, through various programmes.
Awareness discussion and bicycle rally were held at the hospital auditorium on Monday on the occasion.
The theme of this year's World Heart Day was - 'Don't Miss a Beat'. This initiative highlighted the importance of every stage of the heart system, at the same time increasing public awareness about heart disease and highlighting the importance of fair and equal healthcare for all.
As of August 2025, the Cathlab of Evercare Hospital Chattogram has completed a total of 4,600 medical procedures. This includes 2,920 coronary angiograms (CAG) and 1,358 PTCA (PTCA) procedures. In addition, the hospital's cath lab is equipped with all the latest technologies used in heart surgery, such as IVUS (IVUS), angioplasty, TPM, FFR and CRT-D. These facilities prove that the hospital is committed to providing world-class heart treatment to patients.
The event was attended by Senior Consultant Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Hasan Mamun, Cardiology Department of Evercare Hospital Chattogram; Senior Consultant Dr. Zahiruddin Mahmud Elias; Senior Consultant Dr. Md. Tariq Bin Abdur Rashid; Attending Consultant Dr. Sameer Kumar Pal; Attending Consultant Dr. Rakib Chowdhury; Senior Consultant and Cardiothoracic Surgeon of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Dr. Asif Ahmed Bin Moin; Evercare Hospital COO Sameer Singh and Medical Services Director Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir were present.
Cardiology Department Senior Consultant Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Hasan Mamun said, “Diabetes control, smoking cessation, healthy eating and physical activity — these four habits are particularly helpful in preventing heart disease in most cases. Therefore, if you start changing your habits today, it is possible to ensure a healthy life tomorrow.”
Cardiology Department Senior Consultant Dr. Zahiruddin Mahmud Ilyas said, “Although it is still a big health challenge in Bangladesh, most of it is preventable. If you develop habits like regular physical activity, eating nutritious food and getting health check-ups, it is possible to reduce the risk of heart disease to a large extent and keep the heart system safe. Our goal is to ensure timely treatment and make everyone aware not to neglect even the slightest symptoms.”
After the patient forum, a bicycle rally began, in which people of different ages participated spontaneously, with the aim of highlighting the importance of physical activity in preventing heart disease.
