Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has urged students who have passed out of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) to play an important role in ensuring good health of Chittagong residents.
He said that the responsibility of the students who graduate from CMC every year as doctors is not only to provide treatment, but also to increase health awareness at every level of society and stand by the people. The responsibility of young doctors in building a healthy nation is even greater.
He made this call as the chief guest in a colorful rally and discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 68th CMC Day-2025 of the glory of Chittagong Medical College on Saturday.
CCC mayor said that many people in Chittagong city are still deprived of adequate healthcare. If the students and alumni of CMC play a leading role in research and service as well as creating awareness, the city residents will get a healthy and beautiful life.
At the event, the alumni of CMC highlighted the tradition and contribution of Chittagong Medical College in the city's healthcare sector. They said that since its establishment in 1957, this institution has not only produced doctors, but has also taken the country's healthcare sector forward by playing a leading role in medical education.
On the occasion of the CMC Day celebration, a rally started from the CMC campus and ended at Medical College road. Later, teachers, alumni and current students participated in a discussion meeting held at the college auditorium. Earlier, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the event by releasing balloons.
Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdur Rob presided over the meeting. The program was attended by CMC Hospital Director Brigadier General Dr. Md.
