The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has fixed the models of scientific calculators that candidates will be allowed to use during the upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.

The HSC exams are set to begin on June 26 across the country. Ahead of this, the Board has issued a notification confirming that seven specific models of non-programmable scientific calculators can be used by candidates at the exam centres.

According to the notice, the approved calculator models are Casio FX-100MS, FX-991EA, FX-570MS, FX-82MS, FX-991EX, FX-991MS, and FX-991ES Plus.

In addition to these models, candidates are also allowed to use general or ordinary calculators in the examinations, provided they are non-programmable. This decision aims to bring uniformity and avoid any unfair advantage for students using advanced devices. The information was disclosed in an official notification signed by Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.

The notification has already been sent to the central secretaries, examination centers, and other officials concerned to ensure that the directive is followed properly during the exams. Authorities hope this move will help maintain a fair and transparent environment for examinees while allowing them to carry out necessary calculations during the exams without technical complications. Students and guardians have been advised to check and confirm the model of calculators before attending the exams.
