Sarishabari (Jamalpur) Correspondent: An 11-month-old girl named Suwaifa tragically died after choking on chanachur (a spicy snack) in Sarishabari, Jamalpur.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at a rented house in Maijbari, Ward 6 of Sarishabari municipality. Suwaifa was the daughter of Saidul Rahman from Konabari village.

According to family sources, Suwaifa’s five-year-old cousin was visiting that evening. Suwaifa’s mother, Chanuara, gave the cousin some chanachur to eat. Unnoticed by the adults, the cousin fed some to Suwaifa. The baby began choking shortly after, prompting family members to rush in. They found chanachur lodged in her mouth and throat.

As her breathing stopped, the family attempted to take her to Sarishabari Upazila Health Complex, but she passed away on the way.

Dr Saidur Rahman Shawon, the attending physician at the health complex, confirmed the death and said the child had died before reaching the hospital. He noted the likely cause was choking due to the snack blocking her airway.
