An anti-drug rally was held on Monday at Balaka Udyan in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, bringing together all local public representatives, government officials, and employees. The day-long event aimed to raise awareness and strengthen the fight against drug abuse in the region.
The rally was presided over by Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khairul Islam, with Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Israt Farzana attending as the chief guest. Among other notable attendees were Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam PPM, Union Parishad chairmen, political figures, and journalists from various print and electronic media outlets.
Speakers at the event emphasized that drug abuse not only ruins individuals but also devastates families and communities. They urged all sectors of society to unite in the fight against drugs and called for intensified awareness campaigns.
A directive was also issued to form “Anti-Drug Committees” in every ward. Speakers expressed hope that such coordinated efforts would lead to a drug-free Thakurgaon.
