‘Team Ababil’ from Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) has brought pride to the nation by securing the 16th position among 40 international finalist teams at the prestigious 20th Annual CanSat Competition held in Virginia, USA from June 5 to 9, 2025.

The globally recognised CanSat Competition is a platform for future aerospace engineers, where students design, build, and launch a small satellite simulation called a CanSat. ‘Team Ababil’ successfully designed a CanSat capable of surviving atmospheric descent, collecting sensor data, deploying air brakes, and transmitting telemetry — all under tight technical and time constraints.

AAUB Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar, OSP, BSP, ndc, hdmc, afwc, psc, ADWC congratulated the team for their remarkable achievement on the international stage.

Led by faculty adviser Assistant Professor Md Samin Rahman from the Department of Avionics Engineering, ‘Team Ababil’ outperformed many reputed universities from technologically advanced countries such as the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. Their outstanding performance not only showcased the capabilities of Bangladeshi students but also marked Bangladesh’s presence on the global aerospace education and student innovation map. It is worth mentioning that the team’s participation was made possible through generous support from GoldHill Alliance, Sincos Automation Technology Ltd, Square Informatix Ltd, MDM Traders Ltd, USA, and ZSRM.

This achievement has further encouraged Bangladeshi students to aspire for excellence in the aerospace and aviation sector globally.
