A total of 5,206 candidates have cleared the multiple-choice question (MCQ) test of the special 48th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, aimed at recruiting doctors for government service.
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) published the results. Among the successful candidates, 4,695 qualified for the post of assistant surgeon, while 511 passed for the post of assistant dental surgeon.
These candidates are now eligible to sit for the 100-mark viva voce examination. After the oral test, 3,000 candidates will be finally selected — 2,700 for assistant surgeon positions and 300 for assistant dental surgeon roles.
The MCQ test, carrying 200 marks, was held on Friday. A total of 41,025 candidates took part in the exam, meaning there were around 14 applicants for each available post. The results were published ahead of schedule, as they were originally expected on Monday, July 21, according to the PSC roadmap.
The circular for this special BCS was published on May 29 to address the shortage of medical professionals in the public sector.
The PSC has confirmed that detailed results and related information are available on its official website (www.bpsc.gov.bd). Only those who pass the MCQ stage are eligible to attend the final viva exam.
The special BCS is part of the government’s effort to recruit qualified doctors to serve across various public healthcare institutions in Bangladesh.
