A youth was killed and three others were injured at Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria on Saturday over a theft allegation.
The deceased was identified as Masum Mia, 25, son of Mamun Miya from Hatura village under Baduir union in the upazila. The injured were being treated at Upazilla Health Complex.
Witnesses and locals said the incident happened at Mamun Miya’s house at Hatura village on Saturday morning. A group of youths including Mamun’s neighbor Yeasin went to the former’s house to steal green coconut on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mamun’s son Masum saw them stealing coconuts and prevented them. On the same evening, an altercation took place between Masum and Yasin.
In consequence, on Saturday morning, some people called Masum out of his home and attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
Kasba Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Malek said hearing the news, a team of police reached the spot and to take necessary steps.
“If the complaint is received, legal action will be taken,” he added.
