A young man died after being hit by his friend with a bamboo in Kuliyarchar of Kishoreganj. The deceased was identified as Emon Miah (17).
The incident took place at Barasuti village in Chayasuti union of the upazila around 11:30 am on Sunday. Emon is the son of Ibrahim Miah of Barasuti village. He is a shoemaker.
According to police and locals, Emon was friends with Ruhul Amin, son of Mojibur Miah of the same village. Around 11:30 pm, 5 more friends including Emon were sitting on the roadside grocery store.
At that time, there was a quarrel between the two. At one point, Ruhul gets angry and hits Emon in the back with a bamboo stick. Emon was seriously injured and fell to the ground. He was later rescued by locals and taken to Kuliyarchar Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Inspector (investigation) of Kuliyarchar Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue of Sadar General Hospital in Kishoreganj. Legal action will be taken subject to receipt of complaint from the victim's family.
