A youth was burnt to death after a fire broke out at two shipping warehouses at city’s Patenga area on early Thursday. The victim was identified as Mohammad Jabed, 18, son of Abdul Latif, hailed from Noahpara village under Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla district. Mohammad Jashim Uddin, Assistant Director of Agargad Fire Station told that the fire broke out at Saima Shipping store, owned by one Abdul Aziz at Katghor area around 3 am. He said huge flammable substances were stored in the storehouse.
Jashim said the locals called firemen after seeing smoke coming out of from the store house where Jabed was sleeping. After being informed by locals and police, two fire service teams rushed to the spot, doused the fire after one hour efforts and recovered his body from the warehouse at 8 am on Thursday. The dead body sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added. The cause of fire could not be known yet.
