A day-long 7th Women’s Mathematics Olympiad was held at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday.
The Women’s Mathematics Olympiad Committee and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation, in association with the Department of Mathematics and Department of Applied Mathematics of DU, jointly organised this event to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the event as chief guest.
DU science faculty dean Prof Abdus Samad, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof Dr Shahidul Islam, Director of Women’s Mathematics Olympiad Committee Prof Dr Chandra Nath Podder were, among others, present on this occasion.
Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged the female students to play pivotal role for bringing positive changes in the society as well as stopping all sorts of violence against women.
He also called upon the female students to raise their voices against violence and face the evil forces courageously.
A number of undergraduate female students from different public and private universities, including Dhaka University, participated in the Olympiad.
Post and Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar will hand over the prizes among winners as the chief guest.
