Woman killed in the capital hit by two vehicles

A middle-aged woman named Nurjahan Begum died after falling between two private cars in the capital’s Mohammadpur.

The incident took place at noon on Monday (September 14) in the Kaderia Housing area in Mohammadpur. Nurjahan Begum died on the spot.

After this incident, although it was possible to arrest the driver of one vehicle, the driver of the other vehicle escaped.

Witnesses said Nurjahan Begum was crossing Road No. 3 in C-Block of Kaderia residential area in Mohammadpur. At that time, two private car drivers were driving recklessly in the residential area. Nurjahan Begum was killed on the spot when she was crushed between the two vehicles. Locals later rescued the injured Nurjahan and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Mohammadpur police said they have arrested Sohrab, a driver of a vehicle belonging to the Railway Ministry’s Bangabandhu Railway Bridge construction project. Another vehicle was seized but the driver escaped.

Amir Hossain, son of slain Nurjahan Begum, has filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station over the incident.
