Published : 03 Dec 2020 10:34 PM

Policy-based quarterly WhiteBoard published its second issue chalking out solid strategies required to prevent the shuttle of the country’s economy from slowing down in the post-Covid-19 period.

“Bangladesh’s economy was prevented from plummeting with the creation of a sizeable stimulus package, and a controlled reopening of key sectors. But do we have the necessary data to shape the recovery strategy? In this issue, Akhtar Mahmood takes a look at how effective monitoring can help unlock the potential of the country’s pandemic-era policy actions and get the best out of the private sector in the process,” wrote Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Editor-In-Chief of the magazine in the editorial note.

“In this issue, Akhtar Mahmood takes a look at how effective monitoring can help unlock the potential of the country’s pandemic-era policy actions and get the best out of the private sector in the process,” he added.

WhiteBoard, the first of its kind to cover the gamut of policy issues in Bangladesh, was launched by the ruling Awami League’s Research Organization CRI (Centre for Research & Information) in September this year.

Apart from the post-Covid-19 strategies, this issue also reflected on how the culture of wearing a mask can help minimize the risk of getting affected with the Coronavirus, the onset of which took a toll on the entire planet.

“We approach the end of 2020 with mixed feelings; the world is a very different place to what it was one year ago. An age-defying virus remains a threat. Yet, there is also hope. There are initial signs of successful vaccines being developed, and we can start to envision a post-covid-19 world,” he further said.

Earlier, the first issue of the magazine covered the policies and strategies that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman adopted, a chapter often outshined by the father of the nation’s other charismatic aspects such as electrifying speech and pro-independence leadership.

The publication has also hit the Internet and now can be reached at whiteboardmagazine.com

As revealed by the CRI, the next issue of the magazine will cover the journey of Bangladesh in 2021, the 50th year of her independence.

Apart from Akhtar Mahmood, this issue also featured Jason Abaluck and Ahmed Mushfiq Mobarak on mask-wearing during Covid19, Aisha Binte Abdur Rob and Sudipta Roy on how to make education inclusive, and more.
