The government on Wednesday announced a week-long programme from March 25 to March 31 to celebrate the `Golden Jubilee of the Independence’ of Bangladesh.

AKM Mozammel Haque, Minister for Liberation War Affairs, on Wednesday announced the programmes through a press conference held at his office on Wednesday.

While elaborating the programmes, the Liberation War Affairs Minister said, "Apart from various cultural programmes, many other functions will be held at the National Museum Auditorium, Suhrawardy Udyan and Hatirjheel International Seminar room.”

“Discussion meeting, liberation war concert, drama, jatrapala, drone show, line and laser show, and fireworks will be held from March 25 to 31 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence."

Besides, there will be a blackout across the country for one minute from 9:pm to 9:01pm on March 25.

AQM Mozammel Haque said, an iconic structure like the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty will be constructed that would help identify Bangladesh.

“When you hear the name of the Eiffel Tower, you understand that it is in Paris, when you see the Statue of Liberty, you understand about America. We also want to do something like them. Bangabandhu and Bangladesh will be made symbolic,” he added

Replying to a query about a controversy on ‘Swadhinata Padak’, the Liberation War Affairs minister said the matter would be looked into seriously.

“The government is looking into it seriously”, he added.
