Covid infection rate falls to 12.82%

The Covid-19 infection rate falls further in Bangladesh, but the strict measures to prevent the virus spread will continue. The government also issued a separate order to enforce mask using among the public. 

On Monday, the health directorate said they tested 12.82 percent samples positive in the last 24 hours till 8am. During the period, 97 more died from the disease.

Some 25,786 samples were tested across Bangladesh. Of them, 3,306 cases were detected.

The infection rate was 13.33 percent on Sunday when 2,922 cases were detected.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown for another seven days.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said a gazette notification would be issued on Tuesday in this regard.

In an official statement, the government also said that strict action will be taken against those who are not wearing masks while going outside despite the repeated and strict instructions.

Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 infection cases people are asked to wear masks while going outside the house, otherwise they will have to face stern punishment, the statement said.

The government has advised everyone to use two masks if necessary, it added.
