Charkishoreganj is a densely populated area between Munshiganj Sadar and Gazaria upazilas. This road has to be given priority to travel from Munshiganj city to Gazaria ferry terminal.

Although the area is under Narayanganj district due to geographical reasons, daily necessary activities are carried out in Munshiganj town. The village is bounded on the west by Charhogla, on the east by Kasemnagar, on the south by Ramzanbeg and on the north by Mollarchar.

The Maldives village has more than 3,000 voters and a population of about 6,000. The neighboring village of Kasemnagar has 4,000 voters and a population of about 12,000. The two villages have a number of public welfare institutions including Mosques, Madrasas, Schools and cemeteries.

As agriculture is the main region, a large quantity of potatoes, jute, paddy and vegetables are produced here. And the construction of roads from Maldives village to Kasemnagar for the transportation of all these agricultural products, for the movement of students and people seems to be a matter of life and death for the locals. The construction of the road will improve the living standards of the locals as well as make it easier for students to go to school.

The road from Kasemnagar to Maldives village is 2500 feet long and 31 feet wide and the road from Maldives village is 1400 feet long and 31 feet wide. But the area did not come to the notice of the authorities as it was far from Narayanganj town. As a result, the locals have to live in extreme suffering.

As there is no road in the village, there is an outbreak of various diseases including tuberculosis in the feet of the locals during the monsoon season. To take a pregnant patient to the hospital, one has to work hard. Locals gathered in front of media workers on September 23 demanding construction of a road from Maldives village to Kasemnagar.

Anwar Chowdhury, a resident of the affected area, said that the land for this road has been allotted for a long time. But no measures are being taken to fill and pave the road. As a result, the locals are suffering. Especially in the potato season, the farmers suffer unbearably.

Mohammad Ismail, a resident of the affected area, said people in the Maldives area and schoolchildren were facing difficulties. So it is very important to make this road.

Ahmed Ali, a resident of the affected area, said, "We only cultivate potatoes in this area." It is very difficult to carry potatoes. You have to take it to the cold storage by boat. When the road is over, I can take it directly to the cold storage by car.

Anwar Hossain Dewan of the affected area said that about 10 to 15 thousand people live in this area. The area has many important things including madrasas, schools, post offices, cemeteries. Students in particular have a hard time going to school and maktab for education. When a person dies, we carry the body through the knee-deep mud to the graveyard for burial.

Abdul Jalil Chowdhury, a resident of Maldives, said, "We have to face many difficulties during the rainy season." It is very difficult to do hat-bazaar.

Hosne Ara, a resident of the Maldives, said: We demand the government to build the road soon.

Hasnabanu, a resident of the Maldives area, said an attempt was made to take a pregnant woman to the hospital a few days ago and it was difficult to take her to the hospital.

Khorsheda Begum, a resident of the Maldives, said, "If there is a road in our area, we can easily get out of the house, boys and girls can go to school and go to the market easily."

When contacted, Narayanganj-3 MP Leakat Hossain Khokon said, "I will definitely build this road in the light of the demands of the locals."
