A union Parishad ward member was stabbed to death by some unknown miscreants at Mandarbaria village of bordering Moheshpur upazila in Jhenidah on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Swapan Hossain 30, son of Amzad Ali, an ex-member of ward number 7 of the union parishad.
Additional superintendent of police in Jhenidah Milu Mia Biswas said a gang of miscreants stabbed Swapan indiscriminately when he was standing in front of his house around 9:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot. The miscreants also stabbed Swapan’s brother Milton Mia while he was trying to save his brother. Police sent the body to Jhenidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
They were preparing to file a case with the police station. Village enmity might be the reason behind the killing incident, additional superintendent of police said.
