UP Chairman’s brother shot dead, housewife’s body recovered

A man was hacked and shot dead by unknown miscreants at Pansha upazila in Rajbari in the early hours on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Pikul Biswas, 40, son of late Jalil Biswas and younger brother of chairman of Sharisha Union Parishad Azmal Al Bahar.

Pikul, who is organising secretary of union unit of ruling Awami League, came under attack when he was returning home from Sharisha Bazaar at about 1:00 am.

The attackers obstructed his path and hacked and shot him. He was first taken to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctors pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile, police recovered the body of a housewife from a pond at Baghachar area of the same union.  The deceased was identified as Chadni, 18. wife of Biplob of the area.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the floating body. The body was sent to the hospital for post mortem.

Pangsha Thana OC Ahsan Ullah said they were still trying to find the killers of Pikul Biswas. He also said they will also take legal step about the housewife.
