‘United efforts a must to conserve nature’

Deputy Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar said that in a populous country like Bangladesh, everyone's cooperation is needed for nature conservation. If nature is kept beautiful, we all can live beautifully. He said, nature is for life so nature cannot be destroyed in the name of development. The government gives awards to those who work for the conservation of nature and environment.

The Deputy Environment Minister said these things while addressing the chief guest at the Nature and Life Foundation-Channel I Nature Conservation Medal - 2021 awarding ceremony at Channel I Chetna Chatwar on Saturday evening.

Habibun Nahar said that the government is working tirelessly to conserve the Sundarbans. A project named Sundarbans protection has been taken up in Elksha. Necessary patrol vehicles have been procured. To protect the Sundarbans, the people who depend on it are being made responsible for its management. With the cooperation of the people, the government will succeed in protecting the Sundarbans and other forests of the country.

Chairman of Nature and Life Foundation Mukit Majumdar Babu also spoke in the meeting, among others Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Impress Group Chairman Abdur Rashid Majumder and Director Zahir Uddin Ahmed etc.

In the event, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Monirul Hasan Khan, chairman of Zoology Department of Jahangir Nagar University, was awarded the Channel I Nature Conservation Medal 2021 for his significant contribution to the conservation of wildlife. Crest as reward, one lakh rupees and free medical treatment for life.
