The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has donated 5,000 family tents to people affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh.

The tents were handed over to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society by the UNHCR authorities at a ceremony in the northern area of Cox's Bazar on

Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cox's Bazar Mohammad Kamal  ossain was the chief guest at the handover ceremony.

The tents were handed over by the Cox's Bazar sub-office chief of the UN refugee agency UNHCR, Marine Den Kaidumsai, through the Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner. The 2.5 million tents were donated by UNHCR to the local people affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh, including Cox's Bazar.

The 4,650 family tents provided by UNHCR for distribution among the affected families in various flood-hit areas of Bangladesh are currently flood-affected in three districts of North Bengal, which will also be useful for them. Cox's Bazar district administration will always be dedicated to the welfare of the local people, said Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Kamal Hossain.
