Abdul Jabber son of late Abdul Hashem of village Bongaon under Birishiri union of Durgapur under Netrokona district was stabbed to death by his nephew in a feud over the possession of a piece of land on Monday ( 16 Nov.) morning.
According to local sources, a dispute over the possession of paternal land between Abdul Jabber and his younger brother Abdul Latif was continuing for a long time. There were several attempts of arbitrations locally to resolve the dispute but there was no solution pof the problem.
On Monday morning Abdul Jabber went to harvest paddy from the disputed field when his brother Abdul Latif with his son Labu Mia went to resist him. At a stage of the dispute, Labu Mia stabbed his uncle on the throat with a sharp knife and escaped the scene.
Later, family members of Jabber rushed to the spot and took Jabber to local Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Shah Nur Alam, Officer-in-charge of Durgapur Police station informed, the effort is continuing to arrest the accused. The dead body has been sent to the morgue of the hospital for autopsy.
