Two REHAB directors nabbed for gang-rape

Two directors of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) were arrested on Sunday night on charge of a gang rape of a job seeker in the city. They have been identified as Shakil Kamal Chowdhury and Engineer Mohiuddin Sikder. Police said, a woman was gang-raped when she went to an office to appear for a job interview in city's Dhanmondi area.

Shakil and Mohiuddin are both board members of the REHAB. Inspector Abdul Latif, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi police station, confirmed the matter to the journalists. About the rape incident, Abdul Latif told that the victim filed a case against the REHAB directors on Sunday night. He said: "According to the case statement, the accused asked the victim to appear for a job interview at the office. When the woman appeared for the interview, the duo gang-raped her.”

"The victim has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for medical examination and treatment,” he added. However, details regarding the office and the organization, where the victim went for the interview, is yet to be known. The policeman also said they are investigating the matter. Dhaka Medical College Hospital Crisis Centre Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum said: “We have conducted her forensic test. We will also conduct a DNA text on her on Tuesday.” “The primary report shows signs of rape,” she added. She said that tests with be conducted with samples from the arrestees.
