Two more held in New Market clash case

Detectives Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Tuesday arrested two staff of a shop  in a case lodged over recent deadly clash between the students of Dhaka College and traders of New Market area in the capital which left two killed and fifty others injured.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, additional deputy commissioner of DB Ramna division Fazle Elahi confirmed it.

They were primarily identified as  Md Kawser and Md Babu Hossain. They are staffs of the Capital First Food, from which the clash originated.

According to the police officials , the duo was identified by analysing video footage of the incident.

The arrestees scuffled with employees of nearby Welcome Fast Food on the night following April 18 that led to the series of clashes involving Dhaka College students, traders and police on that night and the following day.

Earlier, New Market police also arrested a Bangladesh Chhatra League activists and Dhaka College third year student of Statistics, Ishan, in the police assault case.

The police so far arrested nine people – including six students of Dhaka College, two shop employees and Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Mokbul Hossain.
