Two people were killed as a covered-van hit a peddled-van on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Dhumdia in Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday morning, report agencies.
The deceased were identified as Manjur Sardar, 50, of Tebaria village in Sadar upazila and rickshaw-van driver Mamun Shikdar, 45 of Narail district.
Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam said that the accident took place around 8:30am when the Dhaka-bound covered-van hit a rickshaw-van carrying two people. Rickshaw-van driver and a passenger died on the spot, he said.
Police recovered the bodies and seized the covered-van.
