Two get life term for killing farmer in Kushtia

A Kushita court on Wednesday sentenced two people to life term imprisonment for killing a farmer in 2014.

The lifers  were identified as  Kamrul Islam 37, and Kamal Hossain, 40, residents of Putimari Village in Mirpur Upazila of the district.

The court also fined Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.

Among them, Kamal was tried in absentia as he is on the run.

According to the case statement, the convicts beat up Miraz, a local farmer, and hacked him on July 4, 2014 on suspicion that he had an extra-marital affair with Kamrul’s wife, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Miraz died on the way to hospital.

Deceased’s wife filed a case with Mirpur Police Station on July 5 accusing five people in this connection.
