Two children drowned in water of a pond at Satbria area of Dashmari under Motihar police station in Rajshahi on Saturday morning. The victims were identified as Fahim(4) son of Masud Rana and Farhan(4) son of Rana of the same area. Fahim and Farhan were cousins by relation.
SM Masud Parvez, Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police station informed quoting family sources of the victims, around 9-00 am, one of the children slipped in water of the pond when another child rushed to rescue him but both of them died by drowning in water. The family members searched the children till noon and found their bodies floating on water of the pond.
They recovered the dead bodies and took them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared them dead. A UD case has been filed with Motihar thana in this connection, police said.
