The Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has fixed only two cattle markets in the city area targeting the Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslim community.

One will be located at city’s Laldhighirpar arae and another at Tilaghor area.

SCC takes stern position against setting of floating cattle market beside the roads in the city area. Buyer and seller may face problem due to the cattle market shortage.

However, this year sales of cattle will not gain momentum as the prices are high due to shortage of cattle.  But this situation will change within the few days, many cattle trader hope.

Bangladesh Bank and some private banks will be provide machines to detect fake currency in different cattle market like the previous year, sources informed. On the other hand, targeting the Eid law enforces agencies like police and Rapid Action Battalion will give their foremost effort to maintain security in the market.

SMP ADC and media officer, Zedan Al Musa said sufficient security measures will be taken to protect any unexpected incident like extortion and snatching adding that we ensure a hassle free environment in those cattle markets.

When contact to SCC mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, we gave permission for setting two cattle markets in the city. During the Eid season, city area becomes busy. If we give more permission to set up more cattle market in the city area, it may cause traffic jam and many others problem.
