Two business establishments’ owners in Dewli Bazar and Doshmipara area under Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga district were fined Tk 20,000 on Wednesday.
The two businessmen were fined as Chuadanga Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection found various inconsistencies during their monitoring on Wednesday noon.
Assistant Director of Chuadanga District Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Sajal Ahmed said when they were monitoring storehouses, meat shops, fish shops, vegetable shops, hotels, confectionaries and others shops of daily products, they fined Anisur Rahman, owner of Messrs Shohan Store in Dewli Bazar, Tk 10,000 according to section 37, 38 and 43 of Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for selling food items in an unhealthy manner, not showing the price list of daily products properly and selling expired products without mentioning price.
Later, they fined Mahfuzur Rahman, the owner of Messrs Rabbi Food at Doshmipara, Tk 10,000 according to section 37 and 43 of Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for making food products unhealthily and not mentioning price and expiry date in the packet of the product.
They asked the businessmen to be aware at that time and instructed them to buy and sell products in fair price, collect the vouchers and show the price list.
Awareness building leaflets were also distributed at that time.
A team of police personnel of Damurhuda Police Station assisted during the operation.
