Transplantation of T-Aman almost ends in Sylhet region

Farmers of Sylhet region are now passing busy time to transplant the T-Aman seedlings for this season. However, T- Aman transplantation work is almost  ended in Sylhet region amid the drought weather. 

According to the Sylhet Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), a total of 99 per cent work has already been done in this region. Within the two or three days the total transplant work will be completed, said the DAE official.

Earlier, drought weather and flood water also cause a bit late to complete the T-Aman transplant work in this division.

According to the DAE, a total 3 lac 93 thousand 874 hector of land brought under the cultivation of T- Aman paddy in Sylhet division.

Among the total area 1 lac 41thousand 40 hector land was cultivated in Sylhet district, where 76 thousand 244 hector in Sunamganj district, 98 thousand 850 hector in Moulvibazar district and 77 thousand 740 hector in Habiganj district on Sunday.

An official at the divisional office of DAE said, in most of the areas, farmers completed transplantation of seedlings. The farming is well  with  good weather, he added.

Sunai Miah, a farmer of Sharopar area said, this year rain halted the transplantation work of ours. In many areas, we planted the paddy after using the irrigation pump. Therefore, it was a bit late to complete the transplant work in this year. 

Elias Uddin, Deputy Director of Sylhet DAE, said, the Aman transplant work is nearly end. We expected a good output if the weather favour us.
