Training for Kotchandpur fish farmers held

A daylong training for the fish farmers was held in Kotchandpur of Jhenidah on Tuesday. Office of the senior upazila fisheries office (SUFO) organized the training under their revenue budget. All the participants sat under the shade of the trees at the upazila parishad ground where they enjoyed the training course with great interest.

SUFO office sources said they organized the training for a total of 20 fish farmers to promote carp variety of fishes with traditional smaller species of cat fishes like Gulsha, Pabda, Tengra and some other species. The organizers said the programme was organized to promote the decaying varieties which were lucrative for the good fish eaters and ensure protein for the people as well as strengthen their socio-economic base. Conducted by senior upazila fisheries officer Sanjoy Kumar, district fisheries officer (DFO) Alfaz Uddin Sheikh attended the training course as chief guest. The DFO gave emphasis on making the farming profitable and disseminate the farming.
