Train service normalised after 6 hours

After the derailment of the freight train at Ratanpur in Kaliakoir, upazila of Gazipur, the train movement has returned to normal from 8 am on Saturday. The freight train derailed around midnight on Friday.

According to the railway authorities, the freight train was leaving Dhaka and going to Dinajpur. While on its way the train got derailed while it was near the Mouchak station of Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur. The derailment caused a section of the rail line to get damaged.

A rescue train from Dhaka derailed went to the spot and rescued the derailed train. The train left for its destination in the wee hours of the morning. After the train was rescued and taken away the rescue workers worked until 8am on Saturday to fix the damaged lines. At present rail travel over that area is normal.

Shahjahan, station master of Joydebpur railway junction, said that at around half past one in the night, a train bound for Jadabpur derailed near the railway gate in the Mouchak station area.
