A human chain was formed and a public gathering was held at Hnila union in Teknaf upazila on Wednesday to press home their 12-point demand that includes stopping the kidnapping, brutal torture, and ransom collection by armed Rohingya terrorist groups, and enforcing a ban on the movement of ordinary Rohingyas outside their camps.
The event was presided over by Mofizul Alam, a member of the market management committee.
Students and teachers from Hnila Moin Uddin Memorial College, Rangikhali Fazil Degree Madrasa, Hnila Shah Majidia Alim Madrasa, Hnila High School, Hnila Al-Falah Academy, Hnila Girls' High School, and Leda High School, along with businessmen, workers, and the general public were present at the public gathering.
Professor Zahir Ahmed, general secretary of the Hnila Market Management Committee, attended the event as the chief guest. Abu Bakkar Al Masud, general secretary of the Hnila Business Welfare Association, delivered the welcome speech. Bahadur Shah Tapu, president of the Hnila Market Business Association, Saiful Islam, leader of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Muhammad Rafiq, Vice-Principal of Hnila Al-Falah Academy, Abdul Mannan, Principal of Hnila Girls' High School, Muhammad Abdus Salam, Principal of Hnila High School, Nurul Amin, Bengali Professor at Hnila Shah Majidia Alim Madrasa, Mohammad Ferdous, Lecturer at Hnila Moin Uddin Memorial College and others spoke at the event.
The speakers highlighted the 12-point demands and called for the attention of higher authorities and relevant officials in the government. They warned that if these demands are not implemented promptly to restore peace in Hnila and the entire Teknaf area, they would start stricter protests in the future.
