Tourist electrocuted in Haor

A tourist was electrocuted while visiting Haor at Mithamoin of Kishoreganj. Four other people were injured in the incident. The incident took place at Hasanpur Bridge area around 7:30 pm on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Hasan Chowdhury, 32, son of Abdul Malek Chowdhury of Naniyapara village under Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district. He was working as an assistant programmer at Phulpur upazila office in Dinajpur.

The injured have been identified as Shamsul Haque (36) son of Aminul Haque of Motijheel area, Tanvir Khair (30) son of Abul Khair Nizami of Housing Staff Quarters in Mirpur, Fakrul Islam (28) son of Mominul Haque of Comilla and motor boatmen Abul Kalam son of Muslim kha.

According to police and local sources, 14-15 friends from Dhaka came together to visit Haor. They took a motor boat from Balikhola Ghat in Karimganj Upazila to Itna, Mithamin and Austagram. On the way back from there, the boat was electrocuted by the touch of a rural electricity cable. Five people were injured and admitted to hospital. Mahmudul Hasan Chowdhury died at Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital around 10:00 pm.
