Tk 17cr dev projects begin

Many development and reconstruction projects were inaugurated in Pabna’s Ishwardi on Sunday. Reconstruction of several roads including station and hospital road in Ishwardi town of Pabna, demolition of Swapna Cinema Hall, the municipality’s own institution, construction work of Municipal Super Market has been inaugurated. The construction work was officially inaugurated on Sunday afternoon.

Ishwardi Upazila Chairman Nurzzaman Biswas was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Municipal Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu presided over the function. Upazila Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, District Council Member Shafiul Alam Biswas and Engineer Abdul Awal were also present during the occasion.

Engineer Abdul Awal said the city's main station road is 1,250 meters from Railgate to Thakurbari on College Road. The construction cost will be 3 crore 51 lakh. A 650-meter drain will also be constructed along this road. Drain construction will cost 1 crore 89 lakh. 

Apart from this, the construction cost of 650 meters ‘Hospital Road’ from Sher Shah Road to College Road has been estimated at Tk 73 lakh. Thus, construction work of 16 important roads in the municipal area including drains at a cost of around Tk 17 crore is being started simultaneously, he said.

Municipal Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu said “The development work could not be started so far as there was a public holiday to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus. Now, under the UGP-3 project, construction of 16 important roads and drains of the municipal city will be carried out at a cost of Taka 16 crore 90 lakh.”  

These development works will soon be visible. Once the works are completed, people’s suffering will be reduced. Besides, work on the municipal supermarket at a cost of Tk 9 crore will also be started soon, he said. Chief Guest Upazila Chairman Nuruzzaman Biswas gave a short speech during the inauguration. 

He said, “The suffering of the citizens will no longer exist. Under the leadership of Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, extensive development work of the municipality was started.  Ishwardi will be transformed into a modern city.”
