Tigers’ historic win in South Africa

Bangladesh are recently ramping up with huge wins on foreign soils. After defeating New Zealand in Test on their own backyard, Bangladesh have now inflicted a defeat of 38 runs to South Africa in the first ODI in Centurion on Friday.

Bangladesh create history, they mounted a terrific effort in getting their very first victory in South African soil against the Proteas. A win by 38 runs in Centurion to back the victory against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui in January. All-round contributions mean they are 1-0 up in the series. The openers laid the foundation, the middle order capitalised on that, and the bowlers delivered when needed, particularly the accurate Taskin.

Perfomances and victories away from home are always sweeter. Therefore, Tigers will cherish this for sure. They were sent into bat first and the openers just started off slow. But the second half of the first innings saw Bangladesh going hell for leather. The 300 mark (314/7) was breached. SA started off on a disastrous note and were behind the 8-ball all the time. Miller and RVD played sparkling knocks but they fell well short.

Bangladesh have performed wonderfully well to scale more than 300. The openers started off slowly with Tamim and Liton taking their time. But they took off in the second half of the innings and Bangladesh toppled the 300 mark with elan. Liton, Shakib and Yasir got fifties, while cameos by Mahmudullah, Afif and Mehidy Hasan propelled the visitors to the 315-run mark. South Africa had discipline with the ball but they let it slip in the second half.
