Maj Gen (Retd) Abdur Rashid said, the Savar National Memorial undoubtedly is our symbol of pride, where we all the Bangalees pay our homage to our greatest souls of the soil, who sacrificed their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Staying such an important and sensitive place, presentation of untrue reports centring the great independence on the day of independence on March 26 is clearly hurting to the emotion and feelings, he said.
Maj Gen (Retd) Abdur Rashid said, “Instead of proper journalism with real information, the content used by the Prothom Alo in its report was created artificially.”
He said, few people are demanding immunity for the Prothom Alo journalist. But, it is not acceptable that journalists will remain above the law despite untrue journalism.
“The report published by daily Prothom Alo has spread confusion among the public mind. Not only that the report has tarnished the image of our proud history, said Maj Gen (Retd) Rashid.
He continued as saying that the report, clearly hurt my emotion and feelings. “I believe, journalists must do the true journalism and none will produce report with artificially created information."
"If anyone do such thing, everybody should be brought under liability and accountability to the state, society and its people. The government and professionals should also be brought under the accountability."
