As the major opposition party BNP has been granted Golapbagh Playground for holding it’s much talk about Dhaka Divisional rally, tension and uncertainty has significantly decreased across the country.
However, police and other law enforcing agencies will remain alert as BNP, which never practices democratic roles, chosen path of violence to capture power by illegally overturning elected government.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, a senior officer of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Friday evening said, till now we are not suspecting any types of clash following tomorrow’s BNP rally at Golapbagh Playground.
Following successful dialogue between BNP and police authority, the latest venue was finalized.
This is why we are not suspecting any clash on Saturday’s rally, he added.
Responding to another question, the police officer said, we are now assessing the security risk. After our assessment is completed, we shall finalize our security arrangement for the BNP rally.
At present, I can tell you that we shall deploy adequate police forces both in uniform and plain cloth for smoothly holding BNP’s rally.
At the same time, we shall remain alert so that BNP activists can not carry out any destructive activities, he stated.
A midlevel leader of BNP also told that as the issue of meeting venue was solved , we have no bad intension now.
We hope police will extend all sorts of cooperation in holding our peaceful rally at Golapbagh playground, he added.
But if the ruling party activists try to make any obstacles, we shall resist them at any cost, he warned.
Earlier Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) finally grants Golapbagh playground in the capital Dhaka for Bangladesh Nationalist Party to organize its rally at on 10 December.
DMP chief Golam Faruq confirmed it to media on Friday evening.
Earlier while talking to the media on Friday around 3:00 pm ,BNP vice chairman, AZM Zahid Hossain, also claimed that police allowed them to hold meeting at Golapbagh Playground.
BNP first sought permission to hold the rally at Kamalapur stadium. But the police rejected the proposal as the stadium is hosting matches. Police later allowed them to hold the rally at Golapbagh field.
